The founder of this company was Dick Portillo. He started the business with an investment of $,1,110. The first Portillo hot dog stand is known as “The Dog House” Opens in 1963 on North Avenue park. By the year 1967, “The Dog House” is ready for the new look it is renamed as Portillo’s and move to the new building.
It is an American fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in serving Chicago style food such as hot dogs, Maxwell street polish and Italian Beef. Michael Osanloo is the chief executive officer of Portillo’s restaurant.

After 6 years in 1999 Portillo’s kitchen catering services begin. By 2000 Portillo’s begins shipping food to 50 states. In the year 2005, it has expanded outside Illinois for the first time with a restaurant in Buena Park, California. By 2006 Portillo’s opens its first restaurant in Indiana by opening in Merrillville.
Latest year or 6 years before in 2013, it opens in the fourth state in Arizona. By the year 2015, it has made its extension by providing quality of the food and service around the countries. In the year 2016, it has expanded in the two new states one is in Brandon and the other in Tampa. In 2017 it has opened its 50th location store in Woodbury.
